"Let's Keep Dancing," a play by John Purugganan, has received a developmental reading produced by The Public Theater in New York City. John is a creative writer, essayist, and life without parole prisoner in California.

Back in 1992, a shorter, one-act version of this play was a prize-winner in the inaugural Arts-In-Corrections program. John has continued to work on the script, and a couple of years ago made substantial revisions and expanded it into a full-length drama.

In mid-2017, we sent it to The Public Theater for consideration, and on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, "Let's Keep Dancing" received a developmental reading at The Public Theater. You can view the program for the day's reading here. The reading was directed by Candis C. Jones, and performed by Russell G. Jones, Kario Marcel, Emily Davis, Grant Harrison, Sam Kebede, with stage directions read by Tsebiyah Mishael Derry.

While this is a substantial development for any playwright, it is especially so for John, and a considerable achievement. Many thanks to Jack Moore and all the dramaturgical, programming, and artistic staff at The Public Theater, as well as all the excellent actors. Congratulations!
