Bio

Robert Moulthrop is a playwright and author.

In 2016, Enchanted Lion Books published his 2017 Batchelder Award winning translation of the critically acclaimed Danish children’s picture book Cry, Heart, But Never Break, by Glenn Ringtved and Charlotte Pardi. His plays Half Life and T.L.C have won awards for writing and performance at the New York International Fringe Festival, and his children’s play Jack, The Prince of Ireland, was commissioned and produced by the Manhattan Children’s Theatre. His play Who Cares had a reading under the aegis of Urban Stages Theatre, and Sextet For Lovers under the Abingdon Theatre Company. His one-act play Transit of Venus was a finalist for the Heideman Award at The National Ten Minute Play Contest produced by the Actors Theatre of Louisville.

His short fiction has been published in Tahoma Literary Review, Reed, Berkeley Fiction Review, Confrontation, Eclipse, The MacGuffin, and Sou’Wester, and awarded prizes by Helen Magazine, WordRunner e-Chapbook, Literal Latte, and The Cartaret Writers Association. Many of his published and prize winning stories are in two collections of short stories: To Tell You The Truth (2014) and Elvis’s Dog … Moonbeam (2015), which are available from Amazon. He has taught workshops at The Pearl S. Buck Writing Centre and BNY Mellon, read at the NYC Poetry Festival and The Medicine Show Theatre Ensemble, and received a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for prose fiction. He lives and works in New York City.
